Because I like reading about dinosaurs

What did you enjoy about it? What did you learn from reading the text?

I read an intersting book about The Dinosaur Chase.

Did you  know... That there was a huge dinosaur who tried to catch a little dinosaur but he ran into a big hole.

Dinosaur was waiting for little dinosaur to come out of the hole. Big dinosaur saw little dinosaurs nose come out of  the hole saw little dinosaurs head come out  then little dinosaur sprang at the lizard. 

The little dinosaur gets away just in time. 

Coopers Beach Camp 2020

 camp was my favourite thing because we did fun activities like the water slide,obstacle course,Slippy hockey and kayaking.

Raranga Matihiko

At Raranga Matihiko we made some pou using Scult GL. Whaea Kristina printed our pou on a 3D printer.

 AT Raranga Matihiko we got to do heaps of awe some.   the Waka was my favourite thing because I like the dfreerrent design and I liked the Pou and I  like the  part when we got to tattooing  and making stuff with Whaea Kristina.

Te Manga, Te Tinana, Te Kauru and Te Pauwai Were at Lake Ngatu to plant some trees.              

Yesterday me and Hemi were planting kanuka and manuka trees. While me and Hemi were planting a lot of native trees, we were digging a lot of holes too. 😆

My Speech - Dogs are the best pets

Do you have a dog? Do you think dogs make the best pets? I am going to tell you why dogs are the best pet.

Dogs can be trained to do jobs for people. Police dogs, guide dogs and pig hunting dogs are helpful dogs. They are dogs that help people with hunting, helping by tracking bad people and leading people when they can’t see.

Dogs can cuddle you when you're sad and  they can snuggle too. My dog cuddles me when I am sad.  My dog, Kowhai, is cuddly when I hug her and  my dog is warm. If you are sick the dog can help you feel better. 

Dogs help with Fitness. They can make you get to do exercise around your  street so you are healthy and strong.

That’s why I think dogs make the best pet.

Place Value Addition Strategy

WALT use solve addition equations using a place value strategy and place value blocks.

At the beginning I used Pv blocks. the Pv blocks helped me with the strategy.

First I put the tens together then I put the ones together. Now I don't need the PV blocks anymore.

Don't  touch other people because there are cases of Covid-19. No gathering over a hundred because there are  cases of germs. Do not touch something at the shop because you will Put  germs on it. Make sure when you 
Come in your classroom you hand sanitiser.But now we can't  do our  assembly because there are cases of germs.

Matariki

We are learning all about Matariki.

What did I find interesting you can see the stars of Matariki for most of the year but they disappear from the night sky in Aotearoa,

Why did you I think it was interesting?  because their are 500 of scars.the Matariki groug of stars has other names as well one
of it's name is seven sisters. in some stories Matariki is the name of the   biggest star. she is the eldest sister and guides her younger sisters to their places in the sky.

Was there anything that surprised me in my learning? when I  fish it.

Weta

1.WALT identify words or phrases that may be unfamiliar and discuss their meaning.

I learnt that their are fify species of cave weta, weta are nocturnal 
and they lay their eggs in the soil,and weta moult up to ten times as they grow.

Reading - Undersea Gardens

Learning Intention - I am learning to skim and scan for information to find out what is in an 'undersea garden.

Gardeners use seaweed it to keep their soil healthy so the plants will grow strong. Farmers can feed seaweed to their animals too.

Bubble Memories

We are sharing memories from our lockdown bubble.

First we did our bubble memory writing in our writing book we wrote about our bubble memories like who was in our bubble and what we liked the most about it.we  used pictures from home or google exporer in our slides and we had to insert the pictures. I found finding pictures for my snap shots and my slides easy but I found enbedding my slides tricky because I forgot how to embed it. I know how to do it now.

The White-tailed Spider

I am learning to use the information in this text to find out about white-tailed spiders.

First we had to skim and scan  to find interesting and tricky words . These are the words I chose:

Then we had to answer the questions.

Why do you think white-tailed spider have venom?

That is poison

What does a white tailed spider look like? is like a white tailed spider has a long dark grey body with a white patch at the end

What do they eat? Unlike some other spiders the white-tail doesn’t spin a web to catch its food. It hunts at night,and it prefers to eat other spiders 

 

New Zealand Bird Activity

Today we had to match the sentences with the correct bird. It was a test to see if we remembered what we were reading about and if we remembered certain facts about all our New Zealand Birds.

Today in my Ronald Dahl reading group we read about New Zealand Birds.
I found all the birds interesting, i couldn't  just pick 3 so here i have done a slide about all the birds and 2 facts about each.. ENJOY.

Pupil of the week

I am very happy that i got this award at our class assembly. Nanny Jo  was very proud and gave me $50 to go to Mc Donalds.P

My Mothers Day Writing

Mum 

My mum has long dark purple bushy hair, when it is out it looks like
Whoppy Goldberg's hair. It gets tied in a bun or gets straightened to
tame it down.

She has shiny dark brown eyes with long black eyelashes.
Her face is nice and smooth with random freckles all over.
I like that my mum is always there when I need her for a cuddle.
I like that she always pushes to do my best. I love it when she
is always beside me to help me with my home learning.
She is always loving and caring to everyone and always puts
everyone first before herself.

She loves to hang out as a family, go fishing or
just playing games and being silly and goofy. Mum loves to sing
and dance with us. Mum loves to bake for everyone. Mum likes
to do arts and crafts with us. She always keeps the house
running by making sure we have clean clothes, food and a clean house.

We like going shopping together. I really enjoy baking with her
because I get to make yummy cakes and cookies. I really like that
she always helps me with my home learning. We like kicking the
rugby ball  to each other.

What I like most is that when she says goodnight to me she says
‘’Goodnight  love you to the moon and beyond’’  and we both
say forever and always.

Happy Mothers Day to the best mum in the world.

My Gran Gran

Last week we had to do some descriptive writing about a special person and i choose to write about my Gran Gran..

Gran Gran 

My Gran Gran has thin,short,wavy brown
hair with streaks of grey all the way
through it. His face is fair and very
smooth, at times it's prickly. He has
bright blue eyes that sparkle all the time.
He is very tall,just taller than my mum.
He always wears pants and a t.shirt.
He is very soft spoken, he is very charming,
and has the biggest bright smile that lights
up the room. He smells very nice with
his 1 million cologne. He is very cuddly
and gives the tightest hugs ever.

My Gran Gran likes to do gardening,
he spends hours outside tidying up his
gardens and pulling out the never ending
weeds. He loves to sit under the big tree in
the shade with a coffee and smoke and just
listen to his music. Every year in May my
Gran Gran runs the big Country Music
Festival in Paihia and every year in August
he also runs the Jazz and Blues Festival in
Paihia. They spend all year putting it all
together getting musos from all over the
world to come. He really enjoys those
weekends away by himself. He also likes
walking his dog Whero around the farm.
He likes doing anything arty and crafty to
pass time, with anything he makes goes in
his gardens.

Me and my Gran Gran like building huts in
his gardens. We both like walking the dog.
We both like gardening together and
trimming back all the overgrown trees and
plants. We enjoy having turns mowing the
lawn, and we just like to hang out and just
chill and talk about everything and anything
especially if I have a hundred and one
questions.

My Gran Gran is very  special to me.
I will always cherish our time together
even though we hardly see him as much
as we like. 

Rounding to 10's and 100's

Today i have been learning how to round to 10's and 100's. I find it very easy with lots of practice
and with the fun learning games Whaea Deb has uploaded on our maths group site.

Wheels

This week we have been reading about Wheels.
If we didn't have wheels we would not be able to get to places as fast as we like, if wheels were not invented back in 1880 we will have to walk everywhere. COULD YOU IMAGINE THAT??

ANZAC Day - Poppy Art

This is my great grandfather who fought in the war.

Yesterday i made a Anzac poppy with red shiny wallpaper i used a dinner plate to trace the shape

 I traced around desert bowl on white paper for the middle circle then coloured black with a black vivid

Added a green stem with green paper. And this is what it looks like on our wall.

Power from the Sun

Electricity- sun's energy
Energy- can be used to make electricity
Kilowatt- measure of power
Renewable- means it will never run out
Hydro-electric - things powered by water-( hydro-electric dams)

The energy from the sun is called ‘’solar energy’’. i have also learnt that solar energy is a type of renewable energy, that means it will never run out no matter how much people use it.

This is my drawing of the sun shining on the solar panels, making electricity inside the panels from there it can be used to power things like light, fridges,ovens,and also televisions.

On funky  friday it was our TE MANGA's 
Assembly Day. We were all dancing into the music and people  laughed and clapped. Me and kaydee and Edmen bumped into each other and people thought that it was real Chromebooks. Gasp But I was excited and I was nervous.
But finally it was my turn!!.We all yelled the kawa of care at the end!!
